Holy Trinity Church: A British Legacy in Ajaccio

Holy Trinity Church Ajaccio

Corsica is full of surprises! One such surprise is the presence of an Anglican church in Ajaccio. Known as Holy Trinity Church, this church was built on the Cours Grandval between 1869 and 1878 at the initiative of Miss Campbell. It was erected to meet the religious needs of the flourishing British community of the time, driven by the growth of tourism in Corsica.

The building is distinguished by its polychrome stone architecture, sourced from different regions of the island of Corsica, giving it a unique and authentic charm. Over the decades, the church has retained its majestic appearance while seamlessly blending into the urban landscape of Ajaccio.

Today, the Anglican church in Ajaccio has been transformed into a municipal dance school. This new role allows the building to continue living and vibrating to the rhythm of the city’s cultural activities while preserving its architectural heritage.
